Founded in Switzerland in January 2021 as Urban Farmer GmbH, the company was renamed Secend GmbH in mid-2022, based in Zurich. It was launched by Angeline Suppiger and Laurin Krausz, former models inspired by Berlin’s “rescue markets” to reduce food waste. Secend rescues perfectly edible surplus or slightly expired food and cosmetics, offering them online at steep discounts, aiming to fight food waste while providing affordable, sustainable shopping.
